First Grade

Welcome to First Grade! 

As a district, we are dedicated to creating a learning community that prepares our students for academic success.   In first grade, your student will be building their foundational skills for reading, writing, and math. They will learn to apply phonics as they read short passages and write their first paragraphs.  In math, your student will learn a variety of addition and subtraction strategies that they will be able to use and expand upon in future grades. First grade is also where a lot of social-emotional learning takes place.  We teach our students how to identify emotions in themselves and others, social problem-solving, and self-regulation tools.
