Message from the Principal

August 11, 2021

Dear Riverside Families,

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I am excited about the upcoming school year and having all of our students back in class full time to start school.  School has not been “normal” for over a year now and I am hoping we are on track to getting back to a more consistent school experience.  Below are some important updates that our families need to be aware of as we start the school year.

The last 18 months has been very difficult with Covid-19, distance learning, hybrid, quarantines, and everything else that distracted us from our work. Please know, at Riverside, we are here for kids and our work starts with the relationships we build. We are a family, we are a team, and we are here for kids! I truly believe Riverside is a special place and I appreciate the hard work that not only our staff has put in, but also the hard work and dedication of our families over the last 18 months.  I truly believe the positive impacts our relationships have with our students will last a lifetime.  This year, more than ever, we will focus on intentional relationships and intentional teaching.  My goal is to continue supporting staff, students, and parents while making Riverside a family atmosphere dedicated to student growth. I am excited to continue building relationships and helping our students achieve their best! Our theme this year will continue to be “Team Riverside – We show up and never give up” with an emphasis on being a team and on showing up physically (attendance) and mentally (always ready to learn/work) while never giving up and persevering with a family approach.

It’s an absolute pleasure and honor to be the principal at Riverside and I truly love our students, staff, and families! Thank you for trusting us to provide quality experiences for your children!

A few bus stops have changed so please double check your bus stop and times prior to the first day of school.  You can find the bus routes and schedule on the Grants Pass School District website.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and we look forward to having our students back in school! Please make sure your students have a chance to continue reading at home over the next few weeks. My office is always open to parents and students, please contact me if you have any concerns, questions, suggestions, and even when you have praises.  You can call me anytime at 541-474-5780 or you may reach me by email rhenderson@grantspass.k12.or.us

Sincerely,

Rob Henderson – Principal
